manitou springs, denver and a wedding

jed and i just returned from 4 days in colorado! lillie stayed with our parents and had a great time. it was the first time in 15 months that we'd been away from her for more than just one night, so we were excited! our main reason for the cross country adventure was the wedding of our friend chris, but we decided to go a little early to do some exploring on our own. when we arrived thursday afternoon we headed south of denver to a little town called manitou springs (outside of colorado springs at the base of pikes peak). it's such a beautiful part of the country and we had beautiful weather the whole time. enjoy the window into our trip...

thursday night we stayed at hotel san ayre which was first opened in 1952 as a classic motor court under the name san-ayre court motel. in 2006, the property was purchased and the name changed to the Hotel San Ayre. it has been renovated beautifully and we would recommend it to anyone headed to the colorado springs area!

this was our view as we stepped out of our hotel room door.
check out pikes peak!

one of our favorite things was our trip
to the garden of the gods at sunset.

below is the main street in manitou springs.
it's a cute hippie town nestled in the foothills of the rockies
with some great shops, cafes, and restaurants.

our favorite little find was adam's mountain cafe
where we had breakfast friday morning.

the pace of life just seemed slower in this quaint little town.

by lunch on friday we made our way back up to denver.
we met the groom & groomsmen at casa bonita.
those of you who have been to casa bonita understand
why it's a must during a trip to denver.

complete with fire juggling divers, cave rooms,
and wonderful warm sopaipillas, it's an adventure you'll never forget.
it was my third visit and as wonderful as my first.

the guys (duane, tim, chris, jed, and jon) at casa bonita.

friday evening we had a bbq and played some bocce ball.

it was great to spend time with duane and kelly,
if only it didn't take flying the whole way to denver
for us to find time to hang out!

the wedding chapel was so beautiful.
it was one of my favorite weddings ever!

the adorable couple...chris and alli.
